This is Webster 3.0 and the accompanying documentation contains a full explanation of Webster's capabilities. The documentation was created with Microsoft Word 5.1a. The text will appear the best on a color printer but a gray-scale printer such as the StyleWriter II is also capable of printing it.
Webster does not modify any files in your System folder and does not add any of his own. Webster is ready to run as soon as the folder is decompressed via StuffIt.
This is a brief list of requirements for running Webster:
Ñ Webster requires at least a 12 inch color monitor
Ñ System 7 and above are supported
Ñ No system modifications are required
Ñ Speech Manager must be installed
Most importantly, the Apple Speech Manager (i.e. PlainTalk) must be installed on your system before Webster can run. This configuration will typically entail a minimum RAM size of 6 megabytes, depending on the number and size of INITs, extensions and Control Panels which are installed on your system. If you do not have PlainTalk on your system, it can be downloaded via anonymous FTP over Internet from FTP.APPLE.COM.
The Webster 3.0 folder contains all the files required by Webster. Do not move them to other locations on your hard drive or Webster will not be able to find them. In particular, do not move the Webster's Preferences file as it must remain in the Webster 3.0 folder.
The Webster 3.0 folder may be moved as a whole anywhere on your hard disk. There is no copy-protection or location-dependent programming.
Although Webster has been extensively tested, we cannot guarantee the fitness of the software on your system or for your applications. We will be glad to assist in resolving any problems that might arise but cannot take responsibility for any system failure which might occur due to the use of this software.
